Position Summary
The Ford Transmission Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, rebuilding, and maintaining automatic and manual transmission systems in Ford vehicles while ensuring repairs are completed accurately, efficiently, and to manufacturer standards.
Apprentice Technicians will work alongside experienced technicians, receiving hands-on training and mentorship while developing diagnostic and repair skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose transmission concerns using Ford diagnostic equipment and repair procedures.
- Perform transmission repairs, rebuilds, replacements, and related driveline repairs.
- Inspect vehicles and identify mechanical, electrical, and drivability concerns.
- Conduct road tests to verify repairs and ensure vehicle performance.
- Accurately document repair findings, recommendations, and completed work.
- Maintain productivity and quality standards while following dealership processes.
- Collaborate with service advisors, parts personnel, and fellow technicians to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Properly use and maintain dealership tools, equipment, and diagnostic technology.
- Follow all federal, state, local, OSHA, and environmental regulations.
- Immediately report safety concerns or equipment issues to management.
- Participate in ongoing Ford factory training and professional development opportunities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

- Previous experience diagnosing and repairing automotive transmissions required.
- Ford transmission experience strongly preferred.
- Ford certifications are a plus.

Apprentice Technician Candidates
