Group Exercise & Activity Leader

GeriHab Physical Therapy & Wellness is seeking an energetic, compassionate, and dependable Group Exercise & Activity Leader to serve older adults in assisted living facilities, senior centers, and adult day care programs.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with seniors, brings positive energy to every session, and is comfortable using technology. Experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), physical therapy technician, rehabilitation aide, activities assistant, or senior-care professional is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead engaging group exercise programs and recreational activities for older adults.
• Modify activities based on participants’ abilities and safety needs, following established programs and therapist guidance.
• Travel to assigned assisted living facilities, senior centers, adult day care programs, and other community locations.
• Set up and operate virtual reality equipment and other technology-based wellness activities.
• Assist with therapist-led telehealth evaluations and treatment sessions, including positioning devices, preparing equipment, and helping patients participate.
• Follow all instructions and plans provided by the supervising physical or occupational therapist.
• Assist residents with walking to and from their rooms, activity areas, and dining rooms, as permitted by facility policy and the individual’s care plan.
• Encourage participation and create a fun, supportive, and motivating environment.
• Monitor participants for signs of fatigue, discomfort, balance problems, or changes in condition and promptly report concerns to the appropriate staff member or supervising therapist.
• Clean, organize, and properly store exercise, activity, and virtual reality equipment.
• Maintain attendance records and complete other required documentation.
• Communicate professionally with residents, families, facility staff, therapists, and company leadership.
• Follow HIPAA, infection-control, safety, and facility-specific policies.
• Perform other related duties and activities as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• CNA background or previous experience as a physical therapy technician, rehabilitation aide, activities assistant, caregiver, or senior fitness instructor.
• Experience working with older adults, including individuals with dementia, Parkinson’s disease, balance problems, or other chronic conditions.
• High-energy, outgoing, patient, compassionate, and dependable personality.
• Comfortable learning and using virtual reality systems, tablets, smartphones, video conferencing, and other digital tools.
• Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently while following the direction of supervising therapists and facility staff.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel between assigned locations.
• Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and remain active throughout the workday.
• Ability to demonstrate basic exercises and activities safely.
• Ability to assist older adults with walking and mobility within the employee’s training, assigned role, and applicable safety requirements.
• Ability to lift, carry, and set up activity and technology equipment.

Important Role Clarification

This position does not independently evaluate patients, develop therapy plans of care, or provide skilled physical or occupational therapy. Any assistance with telehealth evaluations or treatment sessions will be performed under the direction of the appropriate licensed therapist and according to applicable laws, facility policies, and company procedures.
