Brief Description
The Business Systems Analyst contributes to or leads the analysis, planning, logical design and maintenance of software applications. The Business Systems Analyst contributes to requirements gathering by coordinating with Operations, Accounting, vendors, contract workers, other service providers, and the Information Systems staff to enable satisfaction of end user needs.
This position works primarily at a desk, utilizing basic office equipment. Occasional testing and troubleshooting may be performed on the factory floor.

The Business Systems Analyst contributes to or leads the analysis, planning, logical design and maintenance of software applications. The Business Systems Analyst contributes to requirements gathering by coordinating with Operations, Accounting, vendors, contract workers, other service providers, and the Information Systems staff to enable satisfaction of end user needs.
- Analyzes user and business requirements in cooperation with internal and external customers and generates alternatives to meet those requirements.
- Consults with external and internal customers in areas of expertise (e.g., operations) and NetSuite solutions.
- May lead/mentor other Business Systems Analysts.
- Planning
- Interacts with other members of the organization in product/project planning, monitoring, and schedule maintenance.
- Personal commitment to meeting project dates
- Works on multiple project assignments and able to manage priorities with some direction.
- Analysis & Requirements Gathering
- Documents enhancement requests and defects.
- Researches and solicits user/business needs which can be met with software solutions.
- Leads or participates in the generation of software-based solutions to meet user/business needs by eliciting and documenting the software solution requirements and establishing a solution approach to achieve them.
- Participates in process improvement initiatives.
- Decompose high-level business and user requirements into functional requirements specified in an appropriate level of detail suitable for use by those who must base their work on the requirements. (i.e. Software Architects & Engineers, QA Analysts, User Education staff).
- Manage requirements traceability information and track requirements status throughout the project.
- Communicates product and other pertinent information through various artifacts, such as Software Requirements Specifications, Functional Specifications, Use Cases, Use Case Diagrams, Data Flows, Process Flows and User Acceptance Testing Requirements, in a manner appropriate to the audience.
- Communication
- Provides consultation and support to external and internal customers in areas of expertise for complex software solutions.
- Works directly with all team members to discuss and resolve critical issues and points of contention.

- Continually works towards professional self-improvement through training & education, towards development of deep knowledge in one or more core Subject Matter areas.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Operations or related business fields or equivalent work related experience.
- 4 or more years of experience in a technical role on operations, engineering or business systems analysis.
- 4 or more years of responsibility in manufacturing preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Have an understanding of and be able to communicate the role of a Business Systems Analyst to other members of the organization.
- Ability to present a positive and effective professional image to internal and external customers.
- Listening skills, to understand what people say and to detect what they might be hesitant to say.
- An understanding of current requirements elicitation, analysis, specification, verification and management practices and the demonstrated ability to apply them in practice.
- Computer Technical skills with software used to gather and maintain requirements (e.g. MS Word, Visio ).
- Strong ERP understanding. NetSuite is preferred
