What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Writer position at GEOSPACE TECHNOLOGIES CORPORATION?
This position is responsible for creating, reviewing, and maintaining a wide range of technical and professional documentation. This includes but is not limited to manufacturing documents, policy documents, user manuals, and guides. This position is also responsible for photographing and editing all photos included in that documentation.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Create, edit, and maintain manufacturing documentation to ensure clarity and accuracy.
- Draft corporate documentation, user manuals, and guides to support business operations and customer needs.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and stakeholders to gather information for technical documentation.
- Capture images of manufacturing processes and equipment to enhance instructional materials.
- May assist marketing in creation of various marketing materials, including brochures.
- May assist marketing in product photography for brochures and marketing campaigns.
- Maintain consistency in branding, tone, and messaging across all documentation.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Technical Writer in a manufacturing or corporate setting.
- Strong understanding of technical writing principles and documentation best practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Outlook, Word and Excel).
- Proficiency in photography, including product photography techniques is a plus.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (particularly InDesign and Photoshop) is a plus.
Education:
- A two or four-year degree in a relevant field, such as English, Communications, Graphic Design, or a technical discipline, is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to move within a manufacturing environment to capture process photography.
- Extended periods of sitting for document creation and editing.
- Occasional lifting of photography equipment and products.
