Job Overview
Under the supervision of the Vice President of Sales and Marketing, the Regional Sales Manager, will increase container cargos thru the GPA by promoting the values and benefits of the Georgia Ports to importers, exporters and major 3PLs. Continuous prospecting for new clients as well as offering a consultative approach to existing clients regarding the utilization of the Port of Savannah. Knowledge of international transportation, liner industry, warehousing and distribution.
Upholds the values of the GPA to promote Safety, Integrity, Respect, Community, Creativity and Opportunity. Promotes a safe work environment by participating in safety initiatives and reporting unsafe conditions and behaviors.

Knowledge of the maritime industry, sales, marketing, distribution, supply chain/logistics and management techniques. Excellent written, oral and presentations skills required. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively and professionally with GPA staff as well as external customers in order to create a result driven, team-oriented environment.

Job Duties
- Establishes and maintains a dynamic sales and marketing pipeline for the attracting new business while maintain and growing existing accounts. Maintains viable prospecting program to guarantee continuous flow of sales leads; establishes priorities to attract new customers to Savannah as well as grow existing business on a YOY basis.
- Remains knowledgeable of all factors with potential impact on sales; reviews reports, trade publications, newspapers, etc., for leads, rate information, changes in company leadership, etc., attends trade conferences and symposiums; maintains communication links with a wide variety of industry professionals to help monitor competitive positions.
- Provide a consultative sales approach to clients to provide relevant information to assist customers in understanding the benefits and service offering of the GPA.
- Meets with potential customers to analyze their projected movements and commodities handled, supply chain requirements and capable of relating those needs to GPA and associated services. Utilizes telephone and mailings to establish internal contacts, arrange interviews, and conduct follow-up activity. Follows up initial sales calls; reaffirms service availability, steamship line capability and scheduling data; truck and rail service information.
- Proven ability to manage and maintain a sales call rotation and coverage for specific accounts within regional territory. Travel expectation 35% with overnight and potential international travel within annual budget guidelines.

Experience
- Five years’ experience in sales in transportation or logistics Required
- Required Bachelor's Degree In transportation, sales, business or related field
- TWIC - Transportation Worker Identification Credential Required Upon Hire
- Driver's License - Valid state driver's license Required Upon Hire
