We provide comprehensive services in geotechnical engineering, engineering geology, geotechnical earthquake engineering, and construction‑phase support, such as materials testing and special inspections. We are seeking a senior-level Project Engineer with at least 3 years of experience in geotechnical engineering. The ideal candidate will have experience in office engineering, field investigations, construction observation, and project management for geotechnical projects in California.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and manage geotechnical investigations, including borings, CPTs, test pits, pavement cores, infiltration testing, and laboratory testing.
- Perform geotechnical analyses for foundations, retaining walls, slope stability, settlement, liquefaction, seismic design, pavement sections, and earthwork.
- Prepare and review geotechnical reports, proposals, technical memoranda, and construction recommendations.
- Conduct field observations during drilling, grading, excavation, shoring, foundation construction, pile installation, and related construction activities.
- Coordinate with clients, agencies, design teams, contractors, subcontractors, and internal staff.
- Manage project scope, budget, schedule, staffing, subcontractors, deliverables, and client expectations.
- Provide technical guidance to staff engineers, field personnel, and laboratory staff.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, and a master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of geotechnical consulting experience.
- California PE license required.
- Experience with both field and office aspects of geotechnical projects.
- Knowledge of soil mechanics, foundation design, seismic hazards, pavement design, and construction observation.
- Ability to prepare clear, organized, and technically sound reports.
- Strong communication, organization, and project management skills.
- Strong teamwork skills and a positive, collaborative attitude.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites in Southern California.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with California public agencies, transportation, municipal, education, aviation, water/wastewater, or private development projects.
- Familiarity with codes and standards such as (but not limited to) CBC, ASCE 7, Caltrans, LADBS, LA County, and local agency standards.
- Experience with geotechnical software such as LPile, SHAFT, Slide, Settle3, SHAKE, LiqSV, QGIS (familiarity with), and other geotechnical programs.
