Field Service Engineer – CNC Machinery
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Field Service Engineer with strong electro-mechanical expertise to support and maintain CNC machinery at customer sites. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience troubleshooting, repairing, and commissioning CNC equipment and be proficient with either Fanuc or Siemens CNC controls. This role requires frequent travel and direct customer interaction, making professionalism and communication skills essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex electro-mechanical issues on CNC machinery
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and system calibrations
- Install, commission, and test new CNC equipment at customer facilities
- Work with CNC control systems, including Fanuc and/or Siemens
- Interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals
- Troubleshoot servo systems, drives, motors, spindles, and PLC-controlled systems
- Provide on-site customer training and operational support
- Document service activities, reports, and parts usage accurately
- Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and professionalism during site visits
- Travel regularly (regional and/or national) to support customer needs
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3 years of hands-on electro-mechanical maintenance experience on CNC machinery
- Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical systems (AC/DC, 3-phase power, control circuits)
- Mechanical aptitude including ball screws, linear guides, spindles, hydraulics, and pneumatics
- Experience with Fanuc and/or Siemens CNC controls
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics
- Comfortable working independently in field environments
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently (up to 80% depending on region)
- Valid driver’s license and passport (if international travel is required)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting and ladder logic diagnostics
- Knowledge of servo tuning and drive parameter configuration
- Experience commissioning new machine installations
- OEM or machine tool builder experience
- Strong customer-facing communication skills
Pay: $30.00 - $50.00 per hour
