What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Estimator position at Genuine Search Group?
Our client, a Long-Island based GC, is seeking an Estimator to join their team.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial and/or multifamily construction projects
- Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents to develop accurate quantity takeoffs and pricing
- Solicit, evaluate, and compare subcontractor and vendor proposals
- Develop scopes of work for subcontractor bidding and procurement
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Project Executives, and field teams during preconstruction
- Maintain and update cost databases, historical pricing, and estimating tools
- Identify cost risks, value engineering opportunities, and potential savings strategies
- Assist in preparing budgets, GMPs, and bid proposals for submission to clients
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, and consultants to clarify scope and resolve discrepancies
- Conduct site visits as needed to assess project conditions and constraints
- Support negotiations with subcontractors and vendors to ensure competitive pricing
- Ensure all estimates align with project schedules and logistics
- Participate in bid reviews and turnover meetings with project teams
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience as a Construction Estimator
- Familiarity with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple bids simultaneously
Salary : $90,000 - $120,000
