Position Overview
Genovations Consulting is seeking a Business Development & Sales Representative to build and grow long-term client relationships across our accounting and HR service lines, while identifying opportunities for aligned IT and media solutions. This is a relationship-driven role focused on networking, trust-building, and consistent follow-through with business owners and referral partners.
The ideal candidate thrives in a professional services environment, understands the value of recurring relationships, and is motivated by helping small businesses connect with the right solutions at the right time.
Employment Status and Schedule
- Status: Full-time, exempt
- Typical Workload: Approximately 40 hours per week on average
- Schedule Structure:
- No fixed daily schedule
- Early mornings required for networking events and BNI meetings
- Occasional evenings required for social hours, networking events, and client meetings
- Weekly schedules vary based on events and meetings
Performance is measured by results, consistency, and follow-through, not by schedule.
Compensation
Base Salary:
- Starting Salary: $55,000 annually
- Performance-Based Increase:
- Eligible for an increase to $60,000 annually after the first six (6) months, based on meeting defined activity and performance expectations
Commissions:
- Recurring Revenue Commission:
- 5% of new monthly recurring revenue (MRR)
- Paid monthly for the first six (6) months of each new client relationship
- Applies to recurring bookkeeping, tax, and HR services
- One-Time Revenue Commission:
- 5% commission on eligible one-time services (e.g., cleanups, projects, or non-recurring engagements)
- Commission is calculated based on revenue collected, not quoted or projected amounts
Key Responsibilities
- Generate new business for bookkeeping, tax, and HR services
- Identify and support cross-service opportunities for IT and Media services
- Represent Genovations at BNI meetings, networking events, conferences, and professional gatherings
- Conduct discovery calls, one-to-one meetings, and follow-ups with prospects
- Maintain accurate CRM records, notes, and pipeline visibility
- Coordinate internally to ensure smooth client handoff post-close
- Uphold a professional and consistent representation of the Genovations brand
Qualifications
Required:
- Experience in business development or relationship-based sales (professional services preferred).
- Strong networking, communication, and follow-up skills.
- Proven ability to manage a sales pipeline from prospecting through close.
- Comfortable representing a brand at networking events, BNI meetings, and professional gatherings.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and results-driven.
- Experience using a CRM to track activity and opportunities.
- Professional presence and ability to build trust with business owners.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally.
Preferred:
- Experience selling recurring or subscription-based services.
- Background in accounting, financial services, HR, IT, or consulting.
- Existing professional network in the Nashville area.
- Consultative sales experience with small businesses or nonprofits.
