Staff Accountant

We are seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Staff Accountant to join our clients growing professional services firm in Chicago. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early‑career accounting professional to gain hands‑on experience across core accounting functions in a fast‑paced, collaborative, and fully in‑office environment. The Staff Accountant will support daily accounting operations, assist with financial reporting, and work closely with senior accounting and finance team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with day‑to‑day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries
• Support month‑end and year‑end close processes, including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and internal reports
• Review and analyze invoices, expense reports, and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance
• Maintain accurate financial records and documentation in accordance with firm policies
• Support audit requests and respond to internal and external inquiries
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure timely and accurate financial information
• Perform ad hoc accounting and administrative projects as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• 1 years of accounting experience, including internships
• Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial statements
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills
• Ability to work effectively in a deadline‑driven, fully in‑office environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Eagerness to learn and grow within the accounting profession

Preferred Qualifications

• Internship experience in accounting
• Exposure to professional services or public accounting environments
• Familiarity with accounting software or ERP systems

Work Environment

• Full‑time, on‑site role — 5 days per week in the Chicago office
• 40 hour work week
