Role: Account Executive (AE)

Reports to: Regional Sales Director

FLSA: Exempt

Location: Remote - West Coast

Why is this role important at Genesee Scientific?

An Account Executive (AE) focuses on identifying and securing new customer accounts to drive growth. This role involves proactively researching and targeting prospective clients—such as biotech startups, pharmaceutical companies, and research institutions—who may benefit from Genesee’s portfolio of products. The AE delivers tailored presentations and builds relationships with key scientific and purchasing stakeholders. They virtually manage the full sales cycle, from lead generation through contract negotiation and deal closure, with a strong focus on expanding the company’s market presence and forging long-term partnerships.

What Will You Do

  • Own and grow your territory by driving the full sales process from Discovery to Closed Won. You will be supported by Sales Development Reps (SDR’s) to help you grow our customer base.
  • Create a territory strategy including prioritizing accounts and create an execution plan
  • Engage with decision-makers, i.e. business and laboratory operational leaders.
  • Leverage sales development to support your territory plan and set up qualified calls
  • Conduct discovery calls, deliver quotes, negotiate pricing, and close business profitably
  • Educate buyers on our products, our portal, and our ordering processes
  • Conduct virtual meetings to assess client needs and showcase Genesee products
  • Use Salesforce to manage pipeline and track activity
  • Meet/exceed territory goals based on margin, quota attainment, and revenue growth

Requirements

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, science or equivalent experience
  • 3 plus years of full cycle B2B sales experience; experience in life sciences, medical or biotech sales - lab experience a plus Demonstrated success in driving engagement with prospects virtually, leveraging CRM and other modern tools to advance prospects along the qualification journey
  • Demonstrated success at hunting for new business and owning the sales process
  • Skilled at managing procurement processes and negotiating with price-savvy buyers
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues to identify customer needs
  • Results orientated, strong work ethic and an ability to excel within a rapidly changing and growing organization
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications; experience with Salesforce is a plus
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and effectively manage multiple priorities

Physical Requirements

Perform the following tasks, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Primarily sedentary work on a computer at a home office or in a climate-controlled office environment
  • Regularly sit for extended periods, with occasional standing, walking, and lifting of up to 25 pounds
  • Travel up to 10% within the territory with occasional overnight travel
