Description
The Foreman oversees field operations on industrial refrigeration installation projects, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity. This position serves as a working leader who directs, coordinates, and participates in the daily activities of assigned crews, including pipe fitters, welders, and laborers. The Foreman ensures that projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with company standards and customer expectations.
Role and Responsibilities
· Supervise and lead field crews in the installation, fabrication, and assembly of industrial refrigeration systems, piping, and components.
· Review and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications to plan work assignments and sequence tasks efficiently.
· Coordinate material deliveries, equipment, and manpower to meet project schedules.
· Verify that all work complies with safety regulations, company policies, and industry codes.
· Conduct daily safety meetings, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and toolbox talks; enforce use of required PPE.
· Train, mentor, and evaluate crew members on proper work techniques, quality standards, and safety practices.
· Communicate effectively with project managers, superintendents, and other trades to coordinate workflow and resolve on-site challenges.
· Inspect work in progress to ensure proper installation, alignment, and quality workmanship.
· Monitor labor hours and productivity, submitting accurate time sheets and progress reports.
· Perform hands-on tasks as needed, including pipe fitting, welding, and equipment installation.
· Ensure all jobsite documentation (as-builts, field reports, daily logs, material lists) is completed accurately and submitted timely.
· Represent the company professionally with customers, contractors, and inspectors.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Required Experience
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial or commercial refrigeration, HVACR, or mechanical construction, with at least 2 years in a leadership or foreman capacity.
· Advanced knowledge of piping systems, welding methods (TIG, MIG, Stick), and refrigeration components.
· Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and schematics.
· Strong understanding of OSHA safety standards and jobsite safety requirements.
· Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
· Ability to train and motivate field personnel while maintaining a positive and productive work environment.
· Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; ability to travel and stay overnight as needed (up to 25%).
· Position requires pre-employment drug screening, background check, and driving record verification.
Physical Requirements
· Must be physically able to perform field work and operate required tools and equipment.
· Capable of lifting and carrying up to 75 pounds occasionally and up to 50 pounds frequently.
· This position requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.
· Ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
· Must be able to hear and communicate clearly on noisy construction sites and use appropriate hearing protection.
