We have an exciting opportunity for an undergraduate Intern with a field of study in Mechanical Engineering to join our Electromagnetic Systems (EMS) Group located in Huntsville, Alabama.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Under general supervision, participates in the day-to-day activities of assigned functional area assisting in the completion of routine and non-routine tasks.
- Assists in applying knowledge to analyze, investigate and resolve problems.
- Assists in developing electronic and hard copy reports, records, diagrams and charts.
- Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
- Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
- Supports the design of missile, projectile, or other air vehicle airframes.
- Performs aerodynamic predictions for missiles, projectiles, or other air vehicles using engineering level tools and/or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) codes.
- Perform first order propulsion analysis.
- May assist in the planning and execution of laboratory, wind tunnel, or field-based testing and performing post-test analyses.
- Supports the development of conceptual and preliminary design tools.
- Perform data analysis tasks, such as analyzing aerodynamic databases or flight test data, using standard tools such as MATLAB or Python.
- Participates in the day to day activities of assigned functional area assisting in the completion of non-routine and advanced tasks.
- Assists in applying engineering principles to analyze, investigate and resolve non-routine problems.
- Assists in developing electronic and hard copy reports, records, diagrams and charts of results from engineering tasks.
- Make a 15 minute technical presentation to company leaders summarizing the work performed during the internship period.
- Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Other duties as assigned or required.
