Nutrition Aide – Head Start

Geminus Corporation partners with community-based health care providers, social service organizations and early childhood education programs to help increase access to high-quality social health care for children and families across Northern Indiana. Position Purpose:

The Nutrition Aide works to achieve a well-organized, smooth functioning grantee operated kitchen environment. The Nutrition Aide assists and works cooperatively with the classroom staff and Site Manager to support the daily meal service program for all children and volunteers in the EHS and HS programs. In accordance with Nutrition, Health and Safety Head Start Performance Standards, Board of Health regulations and USDA compliance, the Nutrition Aide will prepare and deliver daily breakfast, lunch and snack meals to classrooms at assigned sites. Specific duties include:

1. Daily compliance to strict sanitation procedures and health and safety precautions.

2. Ensuring proper and timely preparation and delivery of meals.

3. Receiving and rotating food inventory, stocking shelves, refrigerators, freezers.

4. Daily cleaning of the kitchen and food storage areas.

5. Completing required paper work with accuracy and forward to Site Manager.

6. Frequent visits to authorized grocery store for food purchases as required.

7. Monthly attendance at nutrition meetings.

8. Assisting Site Manager in special projects as needed.

Adhere to HEAD START performance standards, GEMINUS policies and procedures and STATE MANDATES regarding the reporting of child abuse and neglect. Report to assigned Head Start site on time daily. Notify supervisor in advance of tardiness or absenteeism.

Minimum Hiring Requirements:

Academic: High school diploma or equivalent. Parents as Subs: Nutrition Aide Training completion a plus.

Experience: Some experience working with children is preferred. Spanish speaking preferred.

Pay Range: $17.56 - $21.95 Hourly
