This position is responsible for ensuring that all parts are thoroughly cleaned of contaminants following fabrication to support ongoing production operations. The Material Washer role also includes the proper storage, handling, and use of industrial chemical cleaners and cleaning equipment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
• Mix cleaning solutions and chemicals in accordance with established procedures to ensure safe use of cleaners and machinery and prevent equipment damage.
• Clean parts thoroughly to remove all foreign materials and contaminants.
• Maintain cleaning systems and related equipment, including hoses and spray guns.
• Inspect parts for defects to ensure compliance with company quality standards.
• Monitor and manage inventory of cleaning supplies, notifying management of replenishment needs or required repairs.
• Transport parts to and from washing areas and move items to the next stage of production.
• Collaborate with other departments to maintain an efficient flow of materials throughout the production process.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Requirement
• High School Diploma/GED equivalent.
• Vocational or technical training in manufacturing, industrial cleaning, or a related trade; or equivalent combination of education and experience is a plus but not required.
• Basic knowledge of workplace safety or chemical handling certifications (such as OSHA or HAZCOM training preferred).
Skills Requirement
• Ability to perform repetitive motions for extended periods.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and adherence to safety rules.
• Capability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work at various heights and in diverse weather conditions.
• Proficiency in the safe use of cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Skill in using hand and power tools relevant to the trade.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing conditions, including heat, cold, and wet settings.
• Competence in safely handling industrial cleaning chemicals (e.g., Aluminox, MEK) while following all chemical safety procedures.
• Ability to read, comprehend, apply, and uphold all safety procedures.
Experience
• 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial cleaning, or production environment preferred.
• Experience working with industrial cleaning chemicals, equipment, or machinery is beneficial.
• Familiarity with safety procedures, including handling hazardous materials and using personal protective equipment (PPE), is desirable.
Physical Requirements

The employee may be exposed to tripping hazards and dusty and/or dirty or wet floors. The noise level in the plant is usually moderate to loud. The employee may or must occasionally and/or frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
