MACHINIST - TRAINEE

Summary

This position is responsible for learning the basic skills required to machine metal parts using CNC and/or manual machines, as well as measuring and deburring tools. The Machinist Trainee will also learn how to set up, operate, and maintain machining equipment.

All job levels come with an incentive of an additional $1 an hour bonus pay for any worker that proves that they can efficiently run Mastercam or otherwise completely program CNC machine.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

During the 90-day training period, employee will:

• Load and unload machined parts.
• Deburr, measure, and package finished parts.
• Read and interpret blueprints.
• Use precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
• Operate machining equipment under supervision.
• Adjust machine offsets to maintain part tolerances.
• Change tooling as necessary.
• Monitor and replenish machine fluids as needed.
• Safely operate a forklift.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including sweeping at the end of each shift.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Manager Responsibilities

• This position does not have management responsibilities.

This position requires no travel.

Education Requirement

• High School Diploma/GED equivalent.
• Vocational or technical training in Machining Technology, Precision Manufacturing, CNC Programming and Operation (preferred), or a related trade; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certifications in Forklift or OSHA 10 or 30 for safety awareness (preferred).

Skills Requirement

• Basic knowledge of machining principles and the manufacturing process.
• Ability to accurately take and apply measurements to ensure parts meet required tolerances.
• Proper use of machining tools, measuring instruments, and safety equipment.

Experience

• 0-1 years of experience working in a machinist role.
• Prior experience in a manufacturing, production, or mechanical environment is preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, or mechanical equipment.
• Experience following detailed instructions, procedures, or work orders.
• Exposure to quality control processes or inspection tasks is a plus.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Forklift experience is helpful, though training may be provided.
