Requirements:
We are seeking candidates with a High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), a minimum of 1 year of related work experience, and certification as a Phlebotomy Technician through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). A valid Driver's License is also required for this position.
Estimated Salary Range:$43,000 - $63,000 per year

As a skilled Laboratory Specimen Collector with Geisinger Health, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care by collecting high-quality specimens for analysis. This position requires the ability to work independently and perform venipunctures and skin punctures on patients of all ages, from neonates to adults.
- You will be responsible for obtaining blood specimens, processing them for analysis, and utilizing computer systems to register patients and facilitate billing.
- A key aspect of this role is adhering to Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute guidelines for specimen collection.
- You will also be responsible for accessioning procedures, ensuring positive identification of specimens, and recognizing discrepancies as appropriate.
- In addition, you will evaluate specimen suitability and acceptability, resolve or refer problems as needed, and maintain Point of Care instrument troubleshooting and quality control records.
- You will also handle and replenish reagents and supplies according to established protocols and follow established reporting procedures.
- An important aspect of this role is navigating multiple computer applications and knowing related policies and procedures, including compliance policies.
- Additionally, you may be required to provide phlebotomy coverage at Medical Group offices, skilled nursing facilities, or perform in-home phlebotomy for homebound patients.
- Successful completion of initial and subsequent competency exams is required for this role.
