What You’ll Do

We are seeking a Lead SAP IS-U Billing Functional Analyst to own billing configuration, rate implementation, and regulatory tariff changes within an SAP Utilities platform. This role serves as the primary functional lead responsible for understanding rate case impacts, translating regulatory requirements into system configuration, and ensuring billing accuracy across complex consumption-based pricing models.

Because billing errors can have significant financial, regulatory, and customer trust implications, this position requires exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the confidence to lead discussions with business, regulatory, and utility stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Billing Leadership & Rate Implementation

• Lead the end-to-end implementation of utility rate changes, tariff updates, and billing rule adjustments

• Engage with regulatory, finance, and utility teams to understand upcoming rate case impacts and required system changes

• Analyze complex billing logic such as consumption tiers, time slices, and volume-based pricing structures

• Configure, test, and validate SAP IS-U billing functionality to ensure accurate invoice generation

Functional Ownership

• Serve as the primary SAP IS-U Billing subject matter expert and escalation point

• Develop implementation plans for billing updates, including configuration, testing strategy, and deployment approach

• Ensure billing changes are fully validated prior to production to avoid customer or regulatory impacts

Business Engagement & Solution Design

• Facilitate workshops with stakeholders to gather requirements and identify impacts of regulatory or operational changes

• Translate business and tariff requirements into functional specifications for technical teams

• Recommend process and system improvements balancing cost, risk, and timeline

Testing, Validation & Documentation

• Lead functional testing, regression validation, and billing simulation activities

• Develop documentation for billing configuration, rate logic, and system workflows

• Partner with IT, project managers, and developers to ensure successful deployment and support

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of SAP IS-U Billing functional experience

• Demonstrated experience implementing rate or tariff changes in a utilities billing environment

• Strong understanding of consumption-based billing models, pricing tiers, and regulatory billing impacts

• Experience leading workshops, gathering requirements, and driving functional solutions

• Ability to own projects from concept through configuration, testing, and production rollout

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Oracle Utilities billing or other ERP billing platforms transferable to SAP

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or related field

• Experience supporting SAP ECC Utilities modules beyond billing (CRM, device management, etc.)
