Salary: $90k, depending on experience
Position Summary
The Linux Systems Administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of Linux-based systems and related infrastructure. This role ensures system reliability, security, and performance while supporting modern DevOps practices, including containerization, automation, and CI/CD pipelines. The ideal candidate has strong technical aptitude, is self-driven, and can independently research and resolve complex issues while effectively communicating with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Red Hat systems and associated infrastructure
- Support system upgrades, patching schedules, and ongoing maintenance activities
- Ensure compliance with security standards, system hardening practices, and company policies
- Monitor system performance and availability using logging and monitoring tools
- Troubleshoot and resolve system, application, and infrastructure issues across Linux, Windows, and web environments
- Administer and support containerized environments (OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker)
- Assist in the development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows
- Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools such as Terraform and Ansible
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to support deployment and system integration efforts
- Maintain documentation for systems, processes, and procedures
- Manage multiple assignments and meet project deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of experience in systems administration and Red Hat
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent practical experience)
- Hands-on experience with Linux systems administration and Windows (required)
Technical Skills
- Operating Systems: Linux (Red Hat), Windows
- Containerization: OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker
- DevOps & CI/CD: Git, CI/CD pipelines, automation practices
- Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Ansible
- Monitoring & Logging: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Splunk
- Security: Web application security fundamentals, vulnerability awareness, patch management, and system hardening
Certifications (Preferred)
- RHCSA or RHCE
- MCSE
- CKA or CKAD
- OpenShift Certification
