GD Resources LLC is currently seeking experienced Commercial Carpenters to join our team supporting maintenance, repair, and ongoing renovation projects at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center.

Position Overview
Role: Commercial Carpenter
Location: Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center
Schedule: Full-Time (1st, 2nd, or 3rd shifts available depending on facility operational needs)
Key Responsibilities
Framing & Millwork: Construct, alter, and repair walls, partitions, ceilings, doors, frames, windows, trim, handrails, cabinets, shelving, and casework.
Finishes & Structures: Install and repair ceiling grids, ceiling tiles, flooring, underlayment, forms, ramps, curbs, and platforms.
Hardware & Maintenance: Repair doors, locks, closers, thresholds, and weather stripping.
Inspection & Planning: Inspect building components for deficiencies, estimate labor/material requirements, and prepare as-built sketches when needed.
Safety & Documentation: Safely operate power tools and woodworking equipment while accurately completing daily work orders and material logs.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in commercial or healthcare carpentry.
Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of commercial carpentry techniques, hardware, cabinetry, partitions, and building finishes.
Tool & Plan Literacy: Proficient in operating power tools and reading drawings, measurements, and work orders.
Environment: Proven ability to work independently, professionally, and safely inside an active hospital setting.
Work Schedule
Shifts are assigned based on VA operational requirements:
1st Shift: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
2nd Shift: 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM
3rd Shift: 11:30 PM – 8:00 AM
