Role Summary
This position requires a senior-level cybersecurity analyst with extensive experience in security intrusion detection and log analysis. The successful candidate will leverage a broad range of security technologies to monitor, review, and interpret security event data across network, server, and endpoint environments. Proven ability to communicate complex findings clearly and effectively is essential.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive analysis of intrusion detection systems, including Network IPS/IDS/HIPs, and generate detailed security reports.
- Review log data from wide area networks, web servers, and raw data sources to identify potential security threats or anomalies.
- Utilize tools such as Splunk SIEM to develop and execute advanced query methods for security event investigation.
- Perform firewall ACL review and analyze Snort-based IDS events for suspicious activities.
- Examine packet captures (PCAPs) to support threat detection and incident response.
- Analyze web server logs and other relevant data sources for security-related insights.
- Develop and implement advanced search and query techniques using Grep and other command-line tools.
- Clearly communicate security findings both orally and in writing to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Stay current with evolving security threats, technology trends, and best practices in intrusion detection and analysis.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve security monitoring and response processes.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in security log analysis, intrusion detection, or related cybersecurity roles.
- Proven expertise working with SIEM platforms, especially Splunk.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in advanced query development and data review techniques.
- Working knowledge of network security technologies, including NIC/IDS/IPS, firewall ACLs, and PCAP analysis.
- Experience examining Snort-based IDS events and web server logs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple tasks.
- This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required.
Publishing Pay Range: $65.00 - $70.00 USD Hourly
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
