Director of Human Resources
Location: Northwest Florida / Emerald Coast
Overview
A premier hospitality organization is seeking an experienced Director of Human Resources to lead HR strategy and operations for a large, high-volume resort property employing approximately 500 team members.
This individual will serve as a strategic business partner to executive leadership while also remaining highly visible and engaged with employees throughout the property. The ideal candidate is an energetic, people-oriented HR leader who thrives in a fast-paced, service-driven environment and is passionate about building teams, developing talent, and fostering a positive workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all Human Resources functions including employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, compliance, training, and performance management
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and department managers on all people-related matters
- Develop and mentor an HR team while fostering a collaborative, service-oriented department culture
- Drive employee engagement, retention, and recognition initiatives to maintain a positive workplace environment
- Ensure compliance with employment laws, HR policies, and best practices
- Provide coaching and guidance regarding employee relations, FMLA, workers’ compensation, and legal/compliance matters
- Oversee HR systems, payroll/benefits administration, and workforce planning
- Support strategic staffing initiatives for seasonal workforce planning and operational demands
Qualifications
- 5 years of progressive HR leadership experience in hospitality, hotel, resort, or other employee-intensive service environment
- Prior on-property HR leadership experience required; must be highly visible and hands-on in daily operations
- Experience supporting large employee populations (approximately 500 employees preferred)
- Strong knowledge of employment law, employee relations, compliance, FMLA, workers’ compensation, and HR best practices
- Proven success building teams, mentoring staff, and driving employee engagement/culture initiatives
- Experience partnering with executive leadership and balancing people-first leadership with business/financial objectives
- HR certification preferred
