We are seeking a full-time Buyer 2 - Indirect Materials and Services in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for purchasing Indirect Materials and Services and responsible for managing semi-complex acquisition of assigned materials and services.
Essential Functions
- Lead and drive all Garmin departments by procuring materials, equipment, and services including documenting/communicating information by being a liaison between the internal customer and the supplier
- Develop new sources of supply and services while ensuring cost consciousness, quality, delivery and service (QCDS are held to Garmin standards)
- Apply expertise to continuously improve products, procedures and services being purchased
- Create, analyze, and negotiate multiple semi-complex RFP’s and contracts at the same time
- Understand/negotiate contractual terms and conditions
- Knowledge of department processes, procedures, and guidelines for the Purchasing Department in support of ISO9001/QS9000/TS16949
- Develop and manage supplier relationships in support of Garmin’s mission statement
- Manage trends with suppliers
- Drive continuous improvement to ensure departmental goals and metrics are met
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with internal departments and suppliers and a great ability to build strong relationships
- Bachelor’s Degree AND a minimum of 2 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Must demonstrate strong verbal, written, negotiating and analytical skills
- Must demonstrate a proven track record of the ability to prioritize, organize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment to effectively meet deadlines
- Must be a motivated self-starter
- Demonstrated negotiation and project management skills
- Must have a demonstrated high level of interpersonal and communication skills to work across functional and organizational lines with uncompromising ethics
- Must possess demonstrated knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) process
- Demonstrated proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Must demonstrate excellent problem solving abilities while being very detail orientated and process driven
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Management, Supply Chain, Procurement, Operations or Material related field
- Previous Oracle experience
- Previous Indirect Purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
