Position Description:
The Welding Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the welding department to ensure high-quality, accurate, and efficient output. This role provides hands-on leadership to the welding team, ensuring adherence to production schedules, safety standards, and print specifications. The Welding Lead plays a key role in coordinating workflow, training team members, and maintaining communication with other departments to ensure smooth material flow throughout the production process. General Working Hours are Monday - Friday, 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, occasional overtime is required.
Essential Duties:
- Welds needed assemblies to supply parts to fill production orders.
- Organizing department needs and clearly communicate with opposing leads to receive parts required to complete work orders on time.
- Leads and coordinate day-to-day activities of the department to ensure compliance, maintenance, operations, cleaning, and efficiency of the department to maintain and complete the daily department requirements. Including approving time off for the departmental team while ensuring coverage.
- Maintains an adequate inventory of material needed to complete welding tasks.
- Identifies missing materials needed to complete work orders and communicate needs to the appropriate groups to keep production on time.
- Performs quality inspection and ensures quality of welded products across the department.

- Develop, train, and direct employees in all aspects of the job, including on maintenance plan for all department equipment to always keep equipment in operating condition.

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- 5 or more years of welding experience required.
- 2 or more years of supervisor/lead experience.
- Must be able to drive and operate a forklift.
- Ability to speak, read and write in English.
- Must be able to read electrical schematics
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage time well with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Capable of functioning well in a fast-paced and at times stressful environment.
Physical Requirements
This position involves significant manual labor and requires the ability to perform the following physical activities:
- Manual Dexterity and Repetitive Motion: Ability to perform repetitive hand, wrist, and upper body movements and maintain fine motor control necessary for tool operation, equipment adjustments, and material handling throughout the work shift.
- Lifting, Carrying, Pushing, and Pulling: Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Reaching and Mobility: Ability to reach overhead, above shoulder level, and below the waist; walk continuously throughout the facility; and regularly bend, stand, kneel, crouch, and stoop for extended periods.
- Tool and Equipment Operation: Ability to safely and proficiently operate small and large manual and powered tools required for assigned tasks.
- Environmental and Weather Exposure: Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and tolerate exposure to industrial noise, dust, temperature fluctuations, and other industrial conditions.
- Use of PPE: Ability to wear required personal protective equipment including safety glasses, face shield/welder helmet, gloves, steel or composite toe footwear, hard hats, respirators, or hearing protection for extended periods.
- Hearing: Ability to hear and respond to verbal instructions, warning signals, and equipment alarms in a industrial environment with varying noise levels.
- Vision: Ability to maintain close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment necessary to safely operate equipment and inspect materials.
