About the Role
Garden City Products is seeking a skilled, detail-oriented Part-Time Machinist to join our team in Niles, MI. If you have strong manual machining skills, pride yourself on precision, and enjoy a flexible part-time schedule, we want to hear from you!
In this role, you will primarily operate manual engine lathes and Bridgeport mills to produce high-quality precision parts.
What You Will Do
- Set up and operate conventional engine lathes and Bridgeport milling machines.
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering drawings.
- Measure and inspect finished parts to ensure they meet exact tolerances.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workstation.
What We Are Looking For
- Demonstrated experience running manual lathes and Bridgeport mills.
- Ability to work independently with high accuracy and minimal supervision.
- Required: Candidates must provide their own standard machinist tools (see required list below).
Required Machinist Tool List
To be successful in this role, you must bring your own standard precision tools, including but not limited to:
- Precision Measuring: 0–6" Dial or Digital Calipers, 0–1", 1–2", and 2–3" Outside Micrometers, and Dial Indicators (with magnetic bases).
- Setup Tools: Edge finders, 1-2-3 blocks, and a center finder.
- Hand Tools: Standard socket sets, Allen/Hex wrench sets (SAE and Metric), combination wrenches, dead blow hammers, and center punches.
- Layout Equipment: Scribes, dividers, and combination squares
- Safety & Storage: A secure, rolling or portable machinist tool box
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 1.0 – 20.0 per week
