If you're dependable, comfortable with tools, and interested in building a high-income home-service career, we want to talk to you — even if your resume isn't perfect and you've never touched a garage door.

Here's the straight version: OpenWay Garage Door is hiring in Champaign, and we train mechanically inclined people to become residential garage-door service technicians — repairs, installations, inspections, and walking homeowners through their options. You don't need garage-door experience. You need to be good with your hands, coachable, and professional at somebody's front door.

Who does well here

People who already fix, build, install, or troubleshoot things: handymen, apartment and property maintenance workers, auto techs, HVAC helpers, appliance repair, construction, carpentry, remodeling, cable and internet installers, equipment repair — or anyone who's been the "tool person" everywhere they've worked.

How the pay works

This is performance-based pay: you earn a percentage of every job you complete, with no cap. We used to pay hourly. Our technicians made more on the percentage model, so we switched. Our top consistently active technicians have earned $12,000–$15,000 in strong months. Earnings depend on availability, completed appointments, customer service, sales ability, and market demand — this income is not guaranteed, and we'd rather show you the real numbers on a phone call than hype you here. This is a 1099 independent-contractor role: you run your work like your own business, with our appointments, training, and support behind you.

What you'll actually do

• Drive to scheduled residential appointments
• Inspect and diagnose garage-door problems
• Learn to repair and install doors, springs, openers, and hardware
• Explain findings and options to homeowners, get approval, do the work right
• Stay in touch with dispatch, keep your work area clean, follow safety procedures
• Build your skills through ride-alongs and hands-on instruction

What we provide

Hands-on training (about one week, structured), a proven service process, support from experienced technicians and management, and advancement based on performance — not seniority. You're learning a real skilled trade that stays in demand.

This is physical work: ladders, lifting, hot garages in July and cold ones in January. If that's a dealbreaker, this isn't your job. If that's just Tuesday, keep reading.
