We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our divisional accounting team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in managing and executing regular accounting processes, supporting month-end close activities, driving process improvements, and participating in various project work related billing and accounts payable. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

- This is a 40-hr/week temporary position that is expected to last for 6 - 12 months. There is an opportunity to be hired as a Gallagher employee depending on performance and business need.
- This is a remote position, although it would be plus to be in the greater Chicago area with the flexibility to come into our Rolling Meadows office for certain events.
- Assisting in the execution of daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, general ledger maintenance, billing and reconciliations.
- Preparing and analyzing financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Support month-end (quarter-end, and year-end) close activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations and variance analysis to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Identifying opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within the accounting function and implement best practices.
- Participating in special projects and initiatives, providing financial insights and support to cross-functional teams.
- Assisting with internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and standards.
- Working closely with other departments to ensure alignment and support for financial accounting objectives and initiatives.
About You
- Bachelor's degree (Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration) and 5 years of related experience required.
- Requires broad knowledge of accounting practices/principles and preparation of strategic recommendations to management.
- Proficiency in Excel.
- CPA, MBA or other financial certification.
