Responsible for generating project cost estimates as well as providing training and guidance to the estimating department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists Sales Manager in determining estimating workload and capacity.
- Oversees the estimating team in the assembly and submission of all bids.
- Prepares estimates in all levels of design stages including conceptual design, schematic design and/or construction documents.
- Maintain the material cost database to ensure components costs are up-to-date.
- Assembles relevant documents to be used in the estimating process to include: proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
- Assists in the development of a proposal
- Develop field equipment bills of material
- Develop control panel listings
- Assist in developing engineering services.
- Identifies specific products and/or services to be excluded.
- Contributes to clarification language
- Computes costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
- Resolves material and labor cost discrepancies.
- Obtain written accurate quotation from vendor and subcontractor, including price, terms, condition and delivery.
- Understand and communicate bid deadlines internally to contributing supplier and sub-contractors.
- Present estimated costs to Sales Engineer and/ or Group Sales Manager for approval.
- Participates in sales meetings as required.
- Participates in project kick-off meeting as required.
- Assist in the development of voluntary alternatives that provide value add to the client.
- Attends pre-bid meetings and visits job sites as required.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to the Sales Manager, taking direction from the Sales colleagues as well as work collaboratively with the Engineering and Purchasing Departments.

- Ability to manage and track multiple project estimates at once
- Ability to prepare cost estimates and proposals based on minimal customer information ie. Alternative bid delivery methods (progressive design build, CMAR, etc.)

- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
- Use of personal computers and proficient with office software (e. g. word processing, spreadsheets)
- Knowledge of industrial controls
- Knowledge of industry design standards and specifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with two years related experience or an Associates degree in Engineering with four year’s related experience or direct experience in Water/Waste Water with of minimum of four years’ experience and college instruction in a related field and a minimum of two years in an estimating role required.

Valid Driver’s License
TRAVEL
There will be limited travel required, however; it is possible that short term visits both locally and out of town may be necessary to participate in bid meetings and job site reviews, conferences etc.
