About This Position:
We are currently seeking a Lead Estimator. This individual is responsible for project estimates. Works with vendors/distributors to prepare sales cost estimates while analyzing construction documents, specifications, proposals and other documentation to prepare accurate material and labor costs for all projects. Prepares cost & labor estimates for control panels, field devices, network components & related software packages for projects and/or services based on the scope of work including but not limited to, receiving and reviewing customer bid documents including specifications, contract drawings, and any other related material to develop an accurate estimate of a proposal.
Requirements
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
- Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposal, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
- Compute estimated costs by analyzing labor, material and time requirements.
- Understand and communicate bid deadlines to supplier(s) and sub-contractor(s).
- Coordinate estimating activities with appropriate department/individuals to provide a complete estimate on all bids.
- Assist in the development of a proposal by providing the field equipment bills of material and control panel listings, defining engineering services to be included and contributing to clarification of language regarding services and/or projects specifically to be excluded.
- Assist in estimating engineering services.
- Identifies specific products and/or services to be excluded.
- Obtain written accurate quotation from vendor and subcontractor, including price, terms, condition and delivery.
- Understand and communicate bid deadlines internally and to contributing supplier and sub-contractors.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and visit job sites as required.
COMPETENCIES:
- Proficient with office software (e.g. Microsoft Word and Excel)
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to complete work accurately and by a deadline
- Ability to perform calculations required to size components
- Ability to manage and track multiple project estimates
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Knowledge of industrial controls
- Knowledge of industry design standards and specifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
An associate’s degree in engineering with one-year related experience with a minimum of two years’ related experience with college instruction in a related field.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- This position requires a valid driver’s license
- Travel will be limited
- Drug testing and background check completed as a condition of employment
