The Audit Director serves as the primary contact between the Partner, client, and staff. Responsibilities include managing multiple auditing projects, leading client engagements, and coordinating workflow. Directors train staff, develop new business, and maintain client relationships to support future growth within the Firm.
Responsibilities
- Maintain consistent communication with clients, understand their operations, and maintain strong relationships.
- Act as engagement partner or report to partner as needed, signing attest opinions when designated as engagement partner.
- Oversee all phases of engagements and ensure compliance with accounting framework and firm policies.
- Keep engagement partner informed of important developments, consult on issues, and implement solutions.
- Schedule engagements effectively and serve as a subject matter expert in the governmental sector.
- Supervise staff, provide training, and review work in accordance with firm policies.
- Participate in business development, generate referrals, and represent the firm in client meetings.
- Ensure compliance with Firm-wide policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- 10 years of public accounting experience, including 2 years in a senior manager role, with expertise in auditing state and local governments.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
- Active CPA license.
- Ability to travel to client and firm office locations.
- Demonstrated ability to bring in new business.
- Experience with GAGAS, GAAS, and the Uniform Guidance.
- Experience with not-for-profit audits.
Working Conditions
- Hybrid work environment with flexibility to work from home, office, or client locations.
- Same day and out-of-town travel required for client meetings and engagements.
- Overtime expected throughout the year, with peak periods from August to February.
