Gabe, Inc.® is seeking a strategic and results-driven Portfolio Manager to lead the planning, execution, and oversight of our capital project portfolio. This role is critical in ensuring alignment between project execution and organizational goals, optimizing resource allocation, and driving performance across a diverse set of initiatives. Manager will manage more than $100 million in capital project costs, working cross-functionally to optimize resources, mitigate risks, and provide executive-level reporting and insights.
Projects include upgrading of existing commercial/industrial facilities and equipment, as well as commercial/clinical process equipment and manufacturing facilities on site at a corporate headquarters of a Fortune 500 pharmaceutical company. Projects are supported by both Client’s full-time staff as well as numerous contingent workers from other service suppliers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 8 years of experience in capital project management, with at least 3 years in a portfolio or program management role within a cGMP-compliant environment.
- Strong understanding of project governance, financial planning, and risk management.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Primavera, MS Project, Power BI).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- PMP certification is a plus.
Experience:
- Experience working within a cGMP-compliant environment (e.g., pharmaceutical, biotech, energy, or manufacturing) with a strong understanding of compliance and safety standards.
- Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in capital project management, with a strong background in engineering, construction, or infrastructure development.
- Proven track record managing large-scale, multi-disciplinary capital projects across various phases—from concept development through execution and closeout.
- At least 10 years of experience in portfolio or program management, overseeing multiple concurrent projects and aligning them with strategic business objectives.
- Demonstrated success in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting for capital investments.
- Skilled in stakeholder engagement, including executive leadership, technical teams, and external partners.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, Power BI, SAP, or similar tools).
- Experience implementing or working within stage-gate or phase-gate project governance frameworks.
- Experience managing portfolios with budgets up to $100 million.
Duties:
- Lead the end-to-end planning, design, development, implementation, and integration of Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS) and Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) within a cGMP-compliant environment.
- Serve as a recognized Engineering Subject Matter Expert in automated warehousing, ASRS, AGVs, and advanced automation technologies, ensuring alignment with cGMP standards across the network.
- Provide expert engineering guidance in the design and automation of cold rooms and refrigeration systems, with a focus on mechanical design and compliance within cGMP-regulated environments.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of capital projects within the approved portfolio.
- Facilitate portfolio governance processes, including stage-gate reviews and prioritization meetings.
- Monitor project performance metrics and ensure timely reporting to senior leadership.
- Coordinate with finance and operations teams to manage capital budgets and forecasts.
- Identify and resolve portfolio-level risks, issues, and resource constraints.
- Support project managers in aligning individual project goals with broader portfolio objectives.
- Maintain and enhance portfolio management tools, dashboards, and documentation.
- Lead portfolio reviews and provide strategic insights to guide investment decisions.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in project delivery and portfolio performance.
Position will be responsible for schedule and budget management of capital projects, which may include:
- Portfolio Oversight: Manage a portfolio of capital projects valued up to $100 million, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and business priorities.
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with senior leadership to define project priorities, timelines, and resource needs across the portfolio.
- Governance and Reporting: Establish and maintain portfolio governance structures, including steering committees, review boards, and reporting frameworks.
- Financial Management: Oversee capital budgets, forecasts, and cost controls; ensure financial performance meets expectations and supports ROI targets.
- Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks across the portfolio; implement contingency plans and escalate critical issues as needed.
- Resource Allocation: Optimize allocation of internal and external resources across projects to ensure efficient execution and delivery.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary liaison between project teams and executive stakeholders; facilitate communication and decision-making.
- Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in project delivery processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and support project managers; promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence.
