Duties
- Conduct regular patrols of the shelter premises to maintain physical security and deter unauthorized access or activities
- Monitor surveillance systems such as CCTV cameras and access control systems to oversee shelter operations and identify potential security issues
- Perform thorough background checks on new residents, staff, and visitors in compliance with privacy policies and security regulations
- Respond promptly to emergency situations, including medical incidents, conflicts, or safety hazards, following established emergency response procedures
- Write detailed incident reports documenting any security breaches, disturbances, or safety concerns for record-keeping and follow-up actions
- Manage access control by verifying identification and authorizations for residents, staff, visitors, and service providers
- Assist in conflict de-escalation efforts using conflict management techniques while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor
Qualifications
- Proven experience in security roles, law enforcement, military service or related fields demonstrating strong situational awareness
- Knowledge of surveillance technology including CCTV systems and access control systems
- Certification in first aid, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), AED (Automated External Defibrillator) operation, and Taser use preferred
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks such as heavy lifting when necessary for safety or operational needs
- Skilled in incident report writing with attention to detail and clarity for effective communication
- Familiarity with emergency response procedures including fire safety protocols and AED operation
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to handle difficult situations professionally and compassionately
- Physical fitness to perform patrolling duties, heavy lifting, and maintain alertness during long shifts
- Knowledge of security regulations related to loss prevention, conflict de-escalation techniques, and compliance standards
