Shelter Case Worker

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Shelter Case Worker to join our team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness and other high-risk populations. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive case management, support, and advocacy to residents, helping them navigate resources, develop life skills, and achieve stability. Responsibilities

• Conduct intake assessments and develop personalized care plans for residents based on their needs and goals
• Provide crisis intervention and conflict management to de-escalate tense situations effectively
• Support residents with behavioral health issues, including mental health conditions and substance use disorders, through counseling and resource linkage
• Ensure resident confidentiality while maintaining accurate documentation of case notes, data collection, and service delivery in compliance with privacy standards
• Assist with medication administration, first aid, CPR, manual handling, and other safety protocols to promote health and well-being
• Coordinate with community partners to facilitate access to housing programs, employment services, addiction counseling, childcare, and other essential resources
• Supervise group activities and support youth engagement initiatives that promote positive behavior management and social skills development

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree
• Proven experience in supervising or managing teams within social work or community service settings
• Strong background in childcare, working with youth, families, or underserved communities
• Knowledge of security procedures, crisis intervention techniques, de-escalation strategies, and behavioral health practices
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite for data entry, filing, report writing, and case documentation
• Certification in first aid, CPR, manual handling, and medication administration preferred or willing to obtain upon hire
• Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness or high-risk populations is highly desirable
• Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—and the ability to work effectively with culturally diverse communities
• Ability to handle high-stress situations with professionalism while maintaining resident dignity and confidentiality

Pay: $52,000.00 per year
