Due to continued growth and a strong backlog of infrastructure work, the company is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager capable of leading multiple projects and mentoring project teams while driving operational excellence from preconstruction through closeout.
Position Overview
The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the overall management, financial performance, execution, and successful delivery of underground utility and heavy civil construction projects.
This role requires a strong leader with deep infrastructure experience, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to manage complex municipal and private-sector work in fast-paced environments.
The ideal candidate understands the technical, operational, and financial demands of underground utility construction and can effectively coordinate field operations, project teams, subcontractors, engineers, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee multiple underground utility and heavy civil construction projects simultaneously
- Manage project lifecycle from preconstruction through final completion
- Lead project teams including project managers, engineers, superintendents, and field personnel
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and production tracking
- Coordinate with municipalities, engineers, inspectors, and utility authorities
- Manage client relationships and maintain proactive communication throughout project execution
- Oversee subcontractor procurement, negotiations, and performance management
- Review and manage:
- Review and oversee Contracts, Change orders , RFIs, Submittals, Cost reporting and Monthly projections
- Ensure projects meet safety, quality, and profitability goals
- Identify and mitigate project risks proactively
- Support estimating and preconstruction efforts as needed
- Mentor and develop junior project management staff
- Collaborate closely with executive leadership on operational planning and company growth initiatives
Qualifications
- 10 years of heavy civil or underground utility construction experience
- 5 years in a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager role
- Strong background managing:
- Water main projects
- Sewer infrastructure
- Drainage systems
- Pump stations
- Roadway reconstruction
- Sitework and excavation
- Experience managing municipal public works projects strongly preferred
- Proven success managing project financials and maintaining profitability
- Strong understanding of underground utility construction methods and sequencing
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
- Experience with project management software and scheduling platforms
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
- Valid driver’s license required
