Tube Slotting Set Up
The tube slotting set up technician is responsible for the die set up and change over for a tube slotting press.
- Machine Set-Up & Changeover: Install, align, and secure specific punch-and-die sets, mandrels, cutters, and guides on manual, hydraulic, or CNC tube-slotting and punching machinery.
- Calibration & Adjustments: Program or adjust machine parameters (such as feed rates, stroke depth, spacing, indexing, and wall-thickness tension) based on technical specs and material grades.
- First-Piece Inspection: Execute trial runs and inspect initial parts using precision tools (calipers, micrometers, go/no-go gauges) to verify exact slot dimensions, placement, and angle tolerances.
- Mechanical Troubleshooting: Diagnose and fix production issues during runs, such as tube deformation, uneven slot edges, burrs, or premature tooling wear. [1, 2, 3]
- Tooling Maintenance: Monitor the sharpness and integrity of punching dies; perform routine lubrication, blade or die swaps, and basic preventative machine maintenance.
Requirements:
- Experience working with Tube Slotting preferred, but willing to train with prior background knowledge.
- In-depth knowledge of machine tools and their uses.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and design schematics.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and operate large machinery.
- Experience with quality control analysis.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills.
Pay: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
