Senior Accounting Manager – Property Management - CPA

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accounting Manager to lead a growing Property Management Accounting team. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing accounting operations, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance, and driving continuous process improvements across a diverse portfolio.
Reporting directly to senior leadership, the ideal candidate will manage Property Accounting Managers while contributing to strategic financial planning and reporting. This opportunity is well-suited for a seasoned accounting professional looking to advance within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight for all property accounting functions, including rent processing, accounts payable, and financial reporting
- Review and approve monthly financial reports, bank reconciliations, and analyses prepared by Property Accounting Managers
- Ensure accurate compilation, analysis, and reconciliation of NNN (triple net) charges and tenant accounting records
- Support and guide team members in tenant communications related to rent escalations, defaults, and reconciliation matters
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align accounting processes with operational needs
- Maintain compliance with applicable local, state, and federal accounting regulations, including property tax and escrow management
- Oversee annual budget preparation and ensure accuracy based on historical financials and projections
- Provide strategic insights into financial performance and identify opportunities for process improvements
- Mentor and develop accounting staff, fostering collaboration and professional growth
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Evaluate and optimize the use of accounting systems and tools
- Represent the accounting function in internal and external audits
- Perform additional duties as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Experience in property management or real estate accounting required
- Strong knowledge of NNN and CAM reconciliations
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience with property management accounting software (e.g., MRI or similar platforms) preferred
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CPA) or real estate licensing are a plus
