Project Engineer – Transportation Engineering
Location: Columbus, OH - Full-Time / Direct Hire
Job Summary
We are seeking a Project Engineer – Transportation Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience to join our transportation team in Columbus, Ohio. The successful candidate will support a variety of transportation projects involving roadway design, engineering analysis, roadway modeling, and traffic-related planning. This role offers the opportunity to work on projects across multiple offices while maintaining a strong work-life balance through a hybrid work schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Perform data collection, existing conditions assessments, and alternative analysis evaluations.
Develop horizontal and vertical roadway alignments.
Complete cross-section, superelevation, ADA curb ramp, and roadside barrier design.
Prepare roadway models, MOT plans, cost estimates, specifications, and construction bid packages.
Ensure compliance with transportation design standards and client requirements.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and multidisciplinary teams.
Required Qualifications
BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
Minimum 5 years of transportation engineering experience.
Ohio PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Experience with roadway transportation design and ODOT projects.
Proficiency in MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer (ORD).
Strong communication, teamwork, and MS Office skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with the City of Columbus, municipalities, or other state DOT projects.
Knowledge of ORD roadway corridor modeling and intersection design.
Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, Google Earth, SignCAD, and AutoTurn.
Completion of ODOT prequalification courses.
