Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post monthly journal entries related to oil and gas operations.
- Perform general ledger account reconciliations and investigate variances.
- Record and reconcile revenue, lease operating expenses, and production-related transactions.
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports for management.
- Support internal and external audit requests by providing schedules and documentation.
- Assist with accruals, prepaid expenses, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and industry accounting standards.
- Work closely with operations, land, production, and finance teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
- Assist with special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 3 years of accounting experience, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
- Knowledge of upstream oil and gas accounting principles preferred.
- Experience with joint interest billing (JIB), revenue accounting, or production accounting is a plus.
- Familiarity with COPAS guidelines is preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis functions.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- CPA or CPA candidate is a plus.
