Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Controller in managing the daily operations of the accounting department.
- Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company accounting policies.
- Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Support external audits and coordinate requests from auditors.
- Monitor and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and professional development.
- Review balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Assist with cash flow management and treasury functions.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax reporting requirements.
- Develop and improve accounting processes and procedures to increase efficiency.
- Participate in ERP system enhancements, implementations, or upgrades as needed.
- Prepare management reports and provide financial insights to support business decisions.
- Perform other accounting and finance duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- CPA designation preferred.
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
- Public accounting experience is a plus.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Experience with month-end close, financial statement preparation, and internal controls.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
