Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Certified Payroll and Extra Work Billing Specialistwith a strong background in the traffic control or construction industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and submitting certified payroll reports in compliance with the California DIR, handling billing for extra work performed beyond contract scope, and force account billing.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and submit accurate and timely certified payroll reports in compliance with federal, state, and local prevailing wage requirements (DIR).
• Track and document labor hours and classifications for all field staff assigned to jobs.
• Ensure compliance with project labor compliance standards and handle any related audits or document requests.
• Prepare detailed extra work tickets and compile backup documentation for time-and-materials (T&M) or change order billing.
• Work with accounting and HR departments to ensure proper payroll coding and employee classification.
• Maintain organized records and reports for internal and external audits.
Qualifications:
• 3 years of relevant experience in certified payroll and/or extra work billing in traffic control or construction.
• Strong knowledge of prevailing wage laws (California DIR).
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and payroll software (QuickBooks).
• Experience with labor compliance systems (DIR).
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
