Job Overview
Are you looking to grow in your career? We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative CAD Drafter to join our small manufacturing team. This role is critical in supporting production, sales, and compliance by creating accurate technical drawings, maintaining documentation, and ensuring manufacturability of designs.
Key Responsibilities
· Produce shop-ready 2D and 3D CAD drawings for parts, assemblies, and tooling used in manufacturing.
· Collaborate closely with production teams to ensure designs are practical and aligned with equipment capabilities.
· Support the sales team by preparing technical drawings and documentation for customer proposals and quotes.
· Revise and maintain technical drawings and documentation to reflect design changes and ensure version control.
· Update and finalize technical manuals, assembly instructions, and process documentation to reflect current designs and compliance standards.
· Ensure all drawings and documentation meet industry codes, safety regulations, and internal quality standards.
· Assist in identifying design improvements that enhance manufacturability, reduce costs, or improve efficiency.
· Conduct field measurements and collect data to inform accurate drafting and retrofits.
· Maintain an organized CAD file library with proper versioning and easy retrieval.
· Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs), cut lists, and material specifications to accompany drawings and manuals.
· Provide cross-functional support to vendors, customers, and regulatory bodies with clear and professional documentation.
· Engage in continuous learning to stay current with CAD software updates and manufacturing best practices.
Skills and Abilities
· CAD Software Proficiency – Skilled in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD tools for 2D and 3D drafting.
· Manufacturing Knowledge – Understanding of machining, fabrication, and assembly processes to ensure drawings are practical and manufacturable.
· Attention to Detail – Ability to produce precise, accurate drawings and documentation that minimize errors on the shop floor.
· Collaboration & Communication – Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with production teams, sales staff, and management.
· Documentation Management – Experience maintaining manuals, BOMs, and technical files with proper version control and compliance standards.
· Problem-Solving – Ability to identify design improvements that reduce costs, improve efficiency, or enhance manufacturability.
· Sales Support – Capable of preparing proposal-ready drawings and illustrations that clearly communicate design intent to customers.
· Organizational Skills – Efficient in managing CAD libraries, templates, and archives for quick retrieval and audit readiness.
· Adaptability – Comfortable working in a small business environment where roles may overlap and flexibility is required.
· Continuous Learning – Commitment to staying current with CAD software updates, manufacturing best practices, and compliance requirements.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $26.20 - $31.55 per hour
