Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Automation & Equipment Maintenance Technician to support high-volume manufacturing operations. This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving automated production systems and press equipment to support safe, efficient, and reliable operations. The technician will play a hands-on role in reducing unplanned downtime, supporting production goals, and ensuring equipment operates within safety and quality standards.

Core Duties

  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on automated production equipment, including press machinery, robotics, PLC-controlled systems, conveyors, sensors, and related components.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and correct electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues impacting equipment performance.
  • Interpret electrical drawings, mechanical layouts, and technical documentation to support repairs, upgrades, and installations.
  • Perform PLC diagnostics and minor logic changes to restore or improve machine functionality (platforms may include Allen-Bradley or Siemens).
  • Support robotic systems through maintenance, calibration, fault recovery, and program adjustments using teach pendants.
  • Assist with press setup activities including die changes, adjustments, and alignment to maintain product quality and safe operation.
  • Inspect and service critical press systems such as lubrication units, safety devices, brakes, clutches, and material handling accessories.
  • Support installation, commissioning, and startup of new or upgraded automation and press equipment.
  • Record maintenance work, parts usage, and equipment history using a computerized maintenance tracking system.
  • Work closely with engineering, production, and safety teams to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and workplace safety.
  • Follow all company policies related to safety, lockout/tagout, and regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts and provide technical input on automation and equipment upgrades.
  • Perform basic fabrication or component repair using shop tools when required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized maintenance workspace.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or trade certification strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in industrial electrical maintenance, including high-voltage and three-phase systems.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience supporting manufacturing equipment in an industrial environment.
  • Practical knowledge of press equipment and supporting mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Working experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment and I/O systems.
  • Exposure to industrial robotics maintenance and adjustment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical diagrams.
  • Familiarity with motor controls, drives, sensors, HMI interfaces, and automated control systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience using CMMS or similar maintenance tracking tools.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and compliance standards.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, or rotating shifts as needed.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing, and standing for extended periods.

Preferred Experience

  • Advanced PLC programming or automation troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with machine vision or advanced sensor applications.
  • Knowledge of industrial networking and communication protocols.
  • Welding or advanced mechanical fabrication experience.
  • Exposure to predictive or condition-based maintenance practices.
  • Familiarity with specialized press controls or advanced forming technologies.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
