The Staff Accountant is a key contributor to the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the monthly close process. This role is ideal for a driven early-career accounting professional with 1–3 years of experience in corporate or public accounting who is eager to deepen their technical foundation, take on increasing ownership, and grow within a collaborative finance team.
The Staff Accountant will work closely with the Accounting Manager and Controller, gaining broad exposure to general ledger accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, and cross-functional collaboration with FP&A, Operations, and external auditors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
General Ledger & Month-End Close
- Prepare and post journal entries (accruals, prepaid amortization, depreciation, re-classes) in accordance with GAAP
- Perform and document balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly basis, resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
- Assist in executing the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, meeting established deadlines
- Maintain fixed asset subledger, including additions, disposals, and depreciation schedules
Accounts Payable & Receivable Support
- Review and code vendor invoices; assist with payment processing and AP aging review
- Support AR functions including cash application, customer account reconciliation, and collections follow-up as needed
- Reconcile intercompany transactions and ensure timely elimination entries
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Assist in preparation of internal financial statements and management reporting package
- Compile and analyze variance explanations for budget-to-actual results, flagging material items for management review
Compliance & Process Improvement
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, company policies, and GAAP standards
- Identify opportunities to streamline recurring processes, improve accuracy, and reduce manual effort
- Maintain organized, audit-ready workpaper documentation for all assigned reconciliations and schedules
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field
- 1–3 years of accounting experience in a corporate environment or public accounting firm
- Solid understanding of GAAP and fundamental accounting principles (debits/credits, accrual basis, balance sheet reconciliations)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, basic formulas); comfort working with large data sets
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and completeness
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet recurring deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Salary : $65,000 - $80,000
