The Unhoused Services Driver plays a critical role in assisting individuals experiencing homelessness. This position involves safely operating a company vehicle to transport unhoused individuals. Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to operate vehicles safely in various weather and traffic conditions.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills to maintain delivery records.
- Physical ability to load, unload, and carry supplies as needed.
- Demonstrated reliability and punctuality.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with unhoused or vulnerable populations.
- Experience driving for community organizations, social services, or similar roles.
- Familiarity with local geography and community resources.
- Certification in first aid or CPR.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a company vehicle to designated locations to transport unhoused individuals.
- Ensure timely pick-ups and drop-offs, following scheduled routes and maintaining open communication with the program manager for any route adjustments.
- Assist clients as needed in entering and exiting the vehicle, ensuring all necessary safety protocols are observed.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of the vehicle, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections to maintain operational safety standards and report any maintenance needs promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel usage, and service dates, providing documentation as required.
- Demonstrate compassion and patience when interacting with clients, respecting their dignity and privacy at all times.
- Support other warming center staff in coordinating logistics and responding to any urgent transportation needs.
- Engage respectfully and professionally with unhoused individuals and community partners.
Work schedule includes some nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Flexibility in hours is essential to meet the demands of our operational needs.
