Position: Library Media Assistant
Reports to: Principal and Media Specialist
Supervises: None
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Satisfy Every Student Succeeds Act requirements by:
- Completed at least 2 years of study (48 hrs.) at an institution of higher ed, or
- Hold an associate’s degree or higher, or
- Obtained a National Career Readiness Certificate through successful completion of the ACT, WorkKeys Assessment, or passed the Paraprofessional Assessment Test - Passing Score is 455, or
- Passed the Oklahoma General Education (OGET) Test.
- Minimum typing speed of 45 words per minute.
- Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
- Previous training and/or skills in computer literacy are preferred.
- Demonstrate ability of effective use of oral and written communication.
- Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Position Goal: To assist in maintaining a well organized library environment in which teachers and students may use available learning resources.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Assists individual students, teachers and parents in locating and using resources.
- Types and processes orders and other resources.
- Assists with circulation of resources.
- Oversees the general neatness and attractiveness of the library and its displays.
- Assists the librarian in maintaining proper student discipline.
- Assists with supervision of classes using the media center.
- Assists with other clerical responsibilities such as answering the telephone and word processing.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Employment Terms: Nine (9) month classified hourly contract
