The Role
FreshDirect is seeking a hands-on, experienced HMR Supervisor to lead daily operations within our high-volume industrial kitchen. This facility utilizes advanced batch-cooking equipment, including combi ovens, rotisseries, high-pressure deep fryers, tilt skillets, steam-jacketed kettles, and inline portioning systems.
Reporting directly to the HMR Manager, this role is responsible for maintaining operational excellence across food safety, culinary quality, production performance, equipment utilization, and team leadership in a seven-day commercial kitchen operation.

Reporting directly to the HMR Manager, this role is responsible for maintaining operational excellence across food safety, culinary quality, production performance, equipment utilization, and team leadership in a seven-day commercial kitchen operation.
What You'll Do
- Oversee daily food production, preparation, and partial assembly/packaging operations with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Monitor productivity and operational performance to ensure production goals are consistently achieved.
- Partner with Production, R&D, and Packaging teams to support new product launches and menu rollouts.
- Develop and manage staffing schedules aligned with labor models, budgets, and production demands.
- Hire, train, coach, and develop associates while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations, HACCP protocols, GMP standards, and internal policies.
- Identify operational challenges and lead process improvement initiatives that drive efficiency and quality.
- Oversee the proper operation, sanitation, and preventive maintenance of production equipment.
- Partner with leadership to implement operational changes and continuous improvement programs.
- Enforce company policies related to safety, attendance, performance, and workplace conduct.
- Collaborate cross-functionally on company initiatives, pilot programs, and strategic projects.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in high-volume culinary production, commercial catering, food manufacturing, or a related environment.
- Experience operating and managing large-scale cooking equipment and automated or semi-automated production workflows.
- Strong understanding of food safety and regulatory compliance, including HACCP, GMP, USDA, and Department of Agriculture standards.
- NYC Food Protection Certificate or equivalent certification required.
- English proficiency required; Spanish language skills are a plus.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment.
