Key Tasks
- In depth understanding of system baseline configuration.
- Coordinating the documentation and approval of engineering design changes.
- Reviewing engineering change data and associated documentation to ensure adherence to configuration management procedures and policies.
- Editing customer-facing documents for accuracy and format before submitting them for approvals.
- Auditing technical documents and preparation procedures to verify compliance with contract requirements.
- Conferring with functional managers to obtain additional information and to interpret policies and procedures for reporting changes to the system design.
- Coordinate and execute the review and release process of technical documentation.
- Support all aspects of the Configuration Management process.
- Tracking changes to the baseline, including the creation of ECPs and variances that are coordinated with the FAA, as well as administration of Configuration Control Boards (CCB) and possibly Material Review Boards (MRB).
- Reporting on the status of the configuration baselines and conducting audits to establish the baselines and verify that the configuration identification documents describe the products.
- Through on-the-job experience, learn all tasks associated with the process of finalizing, obtaining approvals, version control, and releasing program-related documentation.
- Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable discipline or equivalent experience with 4 years direct related experience.
- Advanced knowledge of basic Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to write clearly and informatively; editing work for spelling and grammar.
- Ability to vary writing style to meet needs, and ability to read and interpret written information.
- Ability to work concurrently on multiple tasks and projects.
- Experience using JIRA is a plus.
- Knowledge and/or experience in DOD, FAA and NASA hardware manufacturing preferred.
- A successful Document Controller protects the reliability, traceability, and usability of an organization's critical documentation assets.
- Attention to detail is an essential qualification.
- The applicant should possess a unique blend of rigid technical precision and active soft skills to ensure compliance and prevent operational risks.
