Freight Appointments is working with a well-established international freight forwarder seeking a detail-oriented Customs Entry Writer to join their team in Chicago.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit customs entries accurately and in a timely manner
- Classify goods using HTS codes and ensure regulatory compliance
- Review commercial documents (invoices, packing lists, bills of lading)
- Coordinate with import operations, clients, and government agencies
- Monitor shipments through clearance and resolve any entry issues
- Maintain accurate records in the brokerage system
Requirements
- 1–3 years of experience in customs brokerage or entry writing
- Strong understanding of U.S. Customs regulations and import processes
- Experience with HTS classification
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Experience with brokerage software (e.g., CargoWise, Descartes) is a plus
