Job Overview
Freedom Recovery is seeking a compassionate and experienced Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to support our residential behavioral health program. This role will function in a collaborative, consultative capacity, working closely with the Director of Nursing, Clinical Director, Utilization Review (UR), and Administration to ensure high-quality, compliant, and coordinated patient care.
The PMHNP will provide psychiatric oversight, medication management, and clinical support for adult clients in a structured ASAM Level 3.1 and 3.5 settings. This position is ideal for a provider experienced in Medicaid-based behavioral health services and familiar with documentation and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations as needed, including mental status examinations and risk assessments appropriate for a residential treatment setting
- Provide medication management and prescribing services in accordance with state regulations and best practices
- Review and approve clinical documentation, treatment plans, and orders as required
- Work hand-in-hand with the Director of Nursing, Clinical Director, Utilization Review, and Administration to ensure continuity of care and regulatory compliance
- Provide clinical oversight and required signatures for treatment plans, medication orders, and related documentation
- Monitor patient progress and adjust medications as clinically appropriate
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and case reviews
- Support staff with clinical guidance related to psychiatric care and medication protocols
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation in EMR systems in compliance with HIPAA and payer requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Active and unrestricted PMHNP license in the State of Louisiana
- Current Medicaid credentialing (highly preferred)
- Experience working in behavioral health, substance use treatment, or residential settings
- Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology and medication management
- Familiarity with Medicaid documentation, prior authorizations, and utilization review processes
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in a structured treatment environment
