The Opportunity
We are seeking a high-caliber Assistant Controller to join a premier international CPG organization. This is a critical leadership role designed for a technical accounting expert who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. You will oversee global consolidation, ensure rigorous compliance across multiple international entities, and serve as a key partner in driving financial integrity for our expanding brand portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Global Consolidations: Manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes for multiple global entities, ensuring accuracy in foreign currency translations and intercompany eliminations.
- Financial Reporting: Lead the preparation of consolidated financial statements in accordance with US GAAP (and/or IFRS), providing deep-dive analysis on variances and operational performance.
- Internal Controls & Compliance: Maintain and strengthen the internal control environment; coordinate with external auditors to ensure seamless annual audits and tax filings.
- Operational Accounting: Oversee core functions including A/R, A/P, and payroll, while optimizing accounting workflows to support a complex CPG supply chain (inventory, logistics, and trade spend).
- Strategic Support: Partner with the FP&A team to provide data-driven insights into COGS, margin analysis, and inventory valuation (FIFO/LIFO).
- Team Leadership: Mentor and develop a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA certification is highly preferred.
- Experience: 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally beginning in Big 4 public accounting, followed by a leadership role in a corporate environment.
- Industry Expertise: Previous experience in the CPG, Manufacturing, or Retail sectors is preferred. Familiarity with inventory accounting and trade promotion management is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Mastery of large-scale ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite) and advanced Excel capabilities.
- International Scope: Experience with multi-currency environments and a solid understanding of international tax and reporting requirements.
- Communication: Ability to distill complex financial data into actionable insights for executive leadership.
